Gypsy jazz band at Platform lunchtime concert
Enjoy a little gypsy jazz on Morecambe seafront this lunchtime - and all for free!
Morecambe Platform welcomes Lancaster based Django Reinhart officionados, Hotcha (right), to star at the third in their series of free Lunchtime concerts, from 12.45pm today.
The three piece, who are led by guitarist Jon Moore, specialise in Reinhart and other stars of the genre, providing note perfect renditions of their greatest tunes.
Tbey will be performing at the venue - which was once Morecambe’s railway station, hence its name - on the glass-roofed former station concourse.
And entry to the show is, as ever at the Lunchtime Concerts, free.
The Lunchtime Concerts have been hosted at the venue, on Morecambe Promenade, for some years.
The idea is to provide musicians, performers, bands and players of all kinds with a showcase opportunity to allow other people to hear their music in a professional concert hall setting.
The current season of five concerts featured a beautiful show by the resort’s resident classical players, The Promenade Concert Orchestra, last Sunday.
The next concert is a performance by popular Lancaster based jazz singer Sue Parrish, with accomnpaniment from Eileen Guppy, which goes ahead on Wednesday May 29.
And the current season of Lunchtime Concerts ends on Wednesday June 5 with a performance by another Lancaster based group, Quay Change, who are building a good reputation in the area.
Entry is always free and the concerts will start at 12.45pm.
