The Hexmen hail from Liverpool and front man and founder George Hexmen has taken the band from its conception in the late 1970s to tour all over the UK and middle Europe.

There is no doubt he has become a beacon for live entertainment over the years and still gets a buzz from live music.

A new cd is imminent, along with more live shows at home and in Europe, so there is simply no stopping this powerful in-your-face brand of energetic rhythm and blues.

George, on lead vocals and harp, and plenty of Liverpool banter, takes no prisoners.

At The Minstrel in Eaves Green last Thursday, the band got down to business with Ridin’ on the L&N, Long Grey Mare, Treat Her Right, Messin’ with the Kid, Hoochie Coochie Man and Come On In before ending the first set with Gloria, the Van Morrison hit.

On lead guitar was Colin Guthrie but this was his last gig with the band before moving to pastures new.

In the rhythm section, Mike Cain, on bass guitar, and Matt Shaw, on the drums, have an association going back 25 years and it showed.

The second set cracked off with Woolley Bully, 29 Ways, Lonely Avenue, That’s It I Quit, Bull Frog Blues, Bad is Bad, King Bee, and Smoke Stack Lightning.

The dancers danced and the crowd shouted for more on a thumping night of live entertainment from a band that has it all.
