Geometric Patterns arrive from Tokyo

The Ferret in Fylde Road will offer music connoisseurs a rare opportunity to see one of Japan’s hottest psychedelic rock acts later this year.

Kikagaku Moyo from Tokyo will swing through the Fylde Road venue on October 20.

This has already been a red letter year for the band who scored rave reviews with their appearance at the US festival Austin Psych Fest – with many saying it was the best performance of the festival.

Kikagaku Moyo have become one of the most talked about bands of 2014 and a spokesman for The Ferret said the venue was delighted to land the booking on this, their first UK tour.

True psychedelic pioneers, a band spokesman said inspiration for the name Kikagaku Moyo (meaning Geometric Patterns) came from playing six hours straight in total darkness – at which point they started to see colours and patterns behind their eyelids.

A free form aural experience is promised, and the group claim that through improvisation they are able to freely explore beyond consciousness and make ‘free music’, taking the audience on a journey through inner space...
