The fortnight of festival arts

The 2014 Preston Arts Festival is so packed this year it has been doubled from a week-long event to a fortnight.

The official launch will be at the Minster in Church Street on Sunday October 5, and will includes music from former BBC Young Chorister of the Year Louisa Stirland (soprano), Andrew Clelland (organist), and the Red Rose Chorus (barbershop choir).

Preston Art Society’s exhibition is at Barton Grange and runs through the first week.

A highlight of the second week will be the Celebration of Youth on October 15, featuring BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist Elliott Gaston-Ross who was winner of the percussion section of the competition.

He will be joined by folk group Strings Attached, students from Runshaw College (including Louisa Stirland and a saxophone quartet), and singers from the Jopson Music Academy.
