Brian the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen is six years old and only 'woo-hoos' when he is on his own, sad or when the Eastenders theme tune comes on.

Laura Wright, who is co-founder of the Barkdale dog grooming spa in Southport which Brian has been visiting since a puppy, said: "I don't know if it's the tone or pitch of the Eastenders theme tune or whether he hates it and knows it's going to be bleak viewing.

"He doesn't do it for Coronation Street."

Laura says she calls him Brian Woo Hoo due to his vocal gymnastics.

She said: "We asked Alexa to play the theme tune while he was sleeping and he woke and started woo-hooing straight away.

"It's funny though.

"We are used to it.

"He's part of the family and we love his singing."

Brian will also join in singing 'Happy Birthday' with Laura's own dog Spider - a miniature Griffon Bruxellois.

Eastenders is celebrating 35 years on air and has confirmed the departure of longstanding cast member Dot Cotton, played by June Brown, 93.

The soap premiered on BBC1 on February 19 in 1985.
