Festival feel for an evening of summer pop

The hotly anticipated Radio City Summer Live pulled out all the stops to showcase some of today’s hottest acts.

The gig, hosted by the city’s radio station, had a festival feel to it – despite being indoors – and saw 12 acts take the stage.

Foxes got the show off to a cracking start, followed by 
X Factor’s Ella Henderson.

The talent show contestant’s set included the song she sang at her audition on the TV show and the audience was on their feet waving their lights for her single, Ghost.

Other artists included Ella Eyre, known for her amazing vocals on Waiting All Night by Rudimental, and the super talented Jess Glynn – the voice on the song of the summer – Clean Bandit with Rather Be.

Admittedly, one of my 
favourites, and everyone in the arena was singing along.

Some of the acts I thought I didn’t know I recognised as soon as they played their hits. Including Swedish House Mafia star John Martin and boyband Rixton – who were thrilled to announce their single Me and My Broken Heart had reached number one that night.

My all time favourite, who I couldn’t wait to see, was the incredible Paloma Faith who stole the show. But, even though I listen to her album over and over, I was surprised she hadn’t chosen some of her more well known songs.

Ashley Roberts from the Pussy Cat Dolls, Neon Jungle and Katy B kept the crowds entertained before one of the highlights of the night – the phenomenal Sam Smith.

A man with a voice as beautiful as his smile, left, singing a selection of hits, including Stay With Me.

The whole arena sang along and it was possibly the case they had saved the best until last, well almost.

After Sam Smith, Little Mix closed the show with a crowd pleasing selection, proving a favourite with many in the crowd, several of whom had created banners in homage of the group.

They certainly managed to get their audience off their seats with their set, which included hit single Wings.
