Everything heading South at the Pavilion
Formed in 1988, The Beautiful South had a string of hit singles such as Old Red Eyes Is Back, Rotterdam, Don’t Marry Her, Perfect 10 and Number One single A Little Time.
After 20 years, 10 studio albums, five greatest hits compilations, 34 chart singles, and 15 million record sales worldwide time was called.
But then Dave Hemingway and Ali Wheeler, lead singers with the band along with departed songwriter Paul Heaton created The South and were joined by mainstays from the original touring band: keyboardist Damon Butcher and the horn section of Gaz Birtles and Tony Robinson.
Now armed with that back catalogue they play at Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion on Sunday night, ahead of a national tour.
