Lytham-based Fylde Coast Players member 21-year-old Ellie Greenwood has achieved a “dream” placement at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA), the US equivalent of RADA,

Only a small number of British drama students get accepted by this prestigious academy which is America’s oldest drama school.

Ellie is taking the two-year diploma course which starts next January, after which she can continue for a third year leading to a BA degree.

Graduates at AADA include stars such as Edward G. Robinson, Spencer Tracy, LaurenBacall, Robert Redford, Anne Bancroft, Kirk Douglas, Danny DeVito and Diane Cilento.

An ex-pupil at the former King Edward & Queen Mary School in Lytham St Annes, 
Ellie, who is from Marton, was into her second year as a 
drama under-graduate at Kingston University, London.

She has been acting locally since she was a child.

In 2008, she was one of the children in ‘Blood Brothers’ and in 2010, she played the part of Roberta to much 
acclaim in the society’s 
production of ‘The Railway Children.
