Distras revolting in Yorkshire

A bloodyminded troublemaker and a man who cycled to Australia for inspiration are two of the acts performing at Lancaster’s Yorkshire House tonight, Thursday.

And that’s before you get to headliner Louise Distras, who visits Lancaster as part of her 24 date Street Revolution UK tour.

Distras is out to “put punk and protest back into the mainstream” and has been hailed as the natural successor to Billy Bragg, Joe Strummer, and even the UK’s answer to Joan Jett.

Support comes from Joe Solo, who has, in his time, been a busker, a barman, a kerb-counter, a warehouse hand, a copywriter and an engineer.

His musical odyssey began in 1987 fronting a bash-em-out band at school, and has seen him play in seven countries either as the lynch-pin of pop-punk upstarts Lithium Joe or hammering out his unique brand of folk, punk and blues in his own right.

Sammy H Stephens cycled to Australia and back for inspiration.

The talented singer/songwriter with powerful vocals plays blues/folk influenced original songs.
