The county’s best young dancers

Hundreds of the region’s most talented young dancers have a spring in their step as they look forward to the Lancashire Youth Dance Festival this May.

For the sixth year running, Ludus Dance and The Dukes in Lancaster have joined forces to stage this two-day festival full of energy and creativity.

From contemporary and physical theatre to street dance, The Dukes will see it all on May 16 and 17.

The groups, aged between 11 and 19, have been chosen to take part owing to their enthusiasm for exploring new dance styles, creating innovative choreography and daring to try something different.

Ludus Dance Artistic Producer Anthony Briggs said: “This event never fails to inspire and showcases some of the most innovative and challenging works from youth companies across Lancashire.

“Through the festival, we recognise the achievement of local young dancers.

“We support them with the development of their skills and techniques whilst giving them a taste of what it’s like to perform their work to professional standard.”
