Cooking up the beautiful Game

Hot off the back of The Freemasons at Wiswell taking first place in The Good Food Guide’s top 50 pubs, Chef Patron Steven Smith has announced the date and chefs confirmed for the pub’s sixth annual Game Week.

A four-day gastronomic extravaganza, showcasing the very best of British Game produce, the much anticipated event will start on Wednesday October 15 and culminate on Sunday October 19, with the award-winning establishment collaborating with some of the country’s best talent, all of whom have created bespoke menus for their evening.

On the Wednesday Josh Eggleton, Chef Proprietor of the multi-award winning Pony & Trap will serve guests a five course menu.

Double Michelin-starred chef Kenny Atkinson, Chef Patron of The House of Tides in Newcastle takes over the reins on Thursday offering diners an insight into his renowned style of cooking.

On Friday Manchester-food entrepreneur Monica Sawhney, founder of the much-celebrated Spice Club, will provide her take on game.

Steven Smith is back in the kitchen for Saturday and Sunday.

A five course menu will be on offer on the Saturday, focussing on seasonal, local produce, while Sunday will be all about the roast of the day, with Steven and his team serving up roast grouse and all the trimmings, to finish the week in style.

Guest chef evenings are £70 per person with an optional additional £30 wine package.
