City of culture on April First Friday, no fooling

The first Friday of every month sees a mini-arts festival in the city, and Lancaster’s Gregson Centre is the place to be on April 4 to celebrate humorist Pascal Desmond’s 50th birthday. The cabaret which runs from 8-10pm features music, comedy and dance. Tickets are £3-£4.

If you prefer a thoughtful way to spend a Friday night why not try some storytelling?

Litfest present Eros and Psyche by performance storyteller Sally Pomme Clayton from 8-9pm at The Storey. Merging myth, fairytale, and raucous Greek philosophy, Sally welcomes Aphrodite, Eros and Socrates all under one roof. Tickets are £8-10.

Meanwhile, over at Lancaster’s Dukes gallery, Life’s A Stage is a free event for anyone aged 16+. Join members of The Dukes and LDHAS Homeless Action Drama Group for an evening of storytelling. Listen to stories based on life experiences and maybe even share your own childhood memory or tale of a dramatic event. The event runs from 6-8pm.

Also at The Dukes, earlier, children can have a first experience of ballet when Northern Ballet present Three Little Pigs. Performances are at 12.15pm, 2pm and 4pm and are especially designed for tots. Tickets £5-£6.

There’s another First Friday treat for youngsters at The Platform in Morecambe. Big Red Bath is a humorous adaptation of Julia Jarman and Adrian Reynolds’ popular book, from 12pm-1.30pm tickets £6-£7(family £24).
