City comes alive at night

Dancers, magicians and musicians took to the streets of Preston over the Bank Holiday to boost the night time economy.

The colourful performances were part of the three-day Prestfest, a £40,000 initiative by the Preston’s Business Improvement District (BID), to celebrate the city’s offering.

Over 50 venues signed up to put on special events and discounts for revellers, who had travelled from places as far away as Leeds.

There were also family-friendly activities, such as ghost walks that attracted 171 participants.

Mark Whittle of BID, said: “Mark added: “When we spoke to venues, the staff were saying that it was nice to see new faces, and that everything felt more vibrant.

“It’s not just about people getting drunk though, we’ve had a lot of different attractions.”

Prestfest is expected to take place again in October.
