Coun Graham Cain, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, said: “It is always thrilling to know that the Red Arrows will be there.”

Blackpool Airshow was extended to two days last year.

Coun Cain added: “The Airshow is always hugely popular, drawing enormous crowds and this was certainly clear last year when so many people flocked to the resort over both days.

“Of course the weather plays a huge part in this but we anticipate attracting many tens of thousands of people yet again to this free event and we are also looking forward to finding out soon what other aircraft will be showing us their daring feats of acrobatics too.”

The flying take place over the famous Blackpool promenade between North and Central piers.

Blackpool Airshow has been wowing the public since 1909 when the town put on the first official air show in Britain.

That was the same year French flyer Louis Bleriot made the first historic crossing of the English Channel.
