A ballet good show in prospect

Another production by the world famous Bolshoi Ballet will be beamed into Lancaster’s Dukes cinema on Sunday.

Le Corsaire is a ballet in three acts loosely based on the long poem by Lord Byron.

A swashbuckling romantic tale of the rescue of a beautiful slave from her tyrannical master by a handsome pirate, it features some of ballet’s most famous sequences.

The first cinema screening of a Royal Shakespeare Company production at The Dukes next Wednesday has proved so popular it has sold out.

But fans of the Bard – and David Tennant – have another chance to see Richard II broadcast from Stratford-upon-Avon on December 1 – though tickets for this screening are selling fast too.

Staff at the Dukes in Lancaster are currently making an exhibition of themselves.

Several have joined forces to show off their artistic skills in an exhibition which runs in the gallery until Sunday.

Among the work on show are drawings, photos, paintings, mixed media, poetry, textiles, jewellery and even soaps.

The exhibition was organised by deputy front of house manager Simon Nixon, who has been an artist for more than 20 years. For more information call 01524 598500
