Frankie & The Heartstrings – possibly the only UK band to own their own record store (Sunderland’s Pop Recs Ltd) – play the city on November 14

Formed in 2008 and comprising of Frankie Francis (vocals), Michael McKnight (guitar), Mick Ross 
(guitars and keys), Steven Dennis (bass) and Dave 
Harper (drums), Frankie & The Heartstrings are a foot-stomping, British guitar band.

They have been described by one noted music 
journalist as “a Hannah Barbera animation of Marty McFly made flesh, fronting a C86 tribute band to The Supremes”.

They have backed names like Florence & The Machine, The Futureheads and Edwyn Collins in concert and now headline their own UK tours.

New LP The Days Run Away, produced by Bernard Butler combines “rattle-boned shake, rockabilly grrr and chutzpah-laden choruses” (NME) with “warm-hearted tunefulness in four lovely minutes” (The Guardian).
