A walk in the park is the perfect post-Christmas pick-me-up

After the blow-out that is Christmas Day, there’s no better way for blowing away the cobwebs than heading into the great outdoors for a ramble.

This festive season, parks around Preston are offering you the chance to get out and about –hopefully the weather will be kind.

This afternoon, from 1pm to 3pm, the Friends of Haslam Park and the ranger are offering the chance to walk off a few of those extra Christmas treats on a winter wonderland walk

Meet at the rangers’ pavilion in Haslam Park, in Ashton, but make sure you wear suitable footwear.

If you can struggle out of bed on New Year’s Day, you can join the rangers at Avenham Park for a ramble along the Ribble.

The park is situated on the banks of the Ribble, and can be a magical place in the winter, especially if we get the longed-for snow.

Meet the rangers at the Avenham Park Pavilion at 10am, and the walk will last for about two hours.

Again, stout footwear is essential.

Another Preston park, this time Ashton Park, is offering you chance to clear out the Christmas decorations from Sunday, January 5.

Don’t forget when recycling your wrapping paper and foil from the turkey, that Christmas trees can also be recycled.

So rather than it leave it sat in your yard or garden till summer, bring your tree to Ashton Park on January 5, between noon and 3pm.

Rangers will chip your tree and turn it into compost for use on Preston’s parks and gardens.

You can also bring live trees, which will be planted out in the parks.
