A step back in time at vintage fairs

City venue 53 Degrees and Brockholes nature reserve hosted Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair, the UK’s largest roaming fair, and the Crafty Vintage Weekender respectively, where home wares, clothing and other old-fashioned goodies were on offer.

Lou Lou Glover, who set up The Vintage Fair, said: “We were really excited to come to Preston as I’ve been itching to bring the Vintage Fair there for ages.

“You know that if Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair is in town you have a one stop shop to get the best Vintage goods and accessories that are on the market at that time and people who love vintage are always looking for something new and unique to add to their wardrobe.” As well as vintage stalls, visitors also enjoyed tea and fabulous cupcakes served on vintage china at the Vintage Tea Party while the Vintage Salon pampered and preened hair into retro styles.

Over at Brockholes a full two days were taken up by the Crafty Vintage crew who set up shop at the floating reserve.

Alongside quirky handmade crafts and foodie delights, the Crafty Vintage Cabaret marquee saw singers, dancers and magicians performing live. Rachel Palmer, from Crafty Vintage said: “The event is always popular but this weekend was better than ever with the addition of more stalls, Babs the retro campervan and even a cocktail bar! I can’t believe the sun was shining all weekend despite the iffy weather we’ve been having recently. It’s so nice to see people enjoying vintage pieces, artisan foods and crafts - we definitely need more of these events in the area.”
