The average property price in Preston, according to the latest UK House Price index, is £132,581 – still well below the average price for England of £266,742.
And online property website Zoopla has plenty of homes available around the price, offering plenty of value for money.

“Within commuting distance to Liverpool and Manchester, it was recently named the best city to live in the North West.
