"What have we got to lose?" - Preston North End boss reacts to Championship win over Norwich City

The home side took the lead early on through Josh Sargent before PNE got themselves level before half time through Emil Riis’ header.

The Dane was on hand in the second half to put the visitors 2-1 up but for Gabriel Sara’s equaliser with just over 10 minutes to go.

Troy Parrot, having been a half time substitute, came on to grab North End’s winner just two minutes later, though it did spell the end of his game as he went down clutching his hamstring.

Lowe’s side were good value for the three points, a victory which ended the high-flying Canaries’ strong home record and maintained their unbeaten run on their travels.

Lowe said: “We were fantastic, it was overall a good performance. To come to Norwich and go toe to toe with them is something that the lads need to be proud of and we are.

"There are not many teams that will come here and go toe to toe with them, they were unbeaten in nine but we thought what have we got to lose?

"Most people probably had us down as not being able to win anyway so we might as well go out there with the full belief that we can play the way we want to play and hopefully get some goals and we certainly did that.”

A win against one of the top sides in the league, and one of the favourites for promotion, could bolster most team’s confidence but that is not needed for PNE.

Lowe insists that his team has always had the confidence to secure a result like they did and he feels their belief in themselves is key.

He said: “We've always had confidence and belief in the team. People might talk now about us conceding but it's irrelevant to me, all I want to do is win games of football for Preston North End and that's all the lads want to do.

"The confidence has always been high but I've said to the group in there if you keep believing you can come to places and win games of football then you will, and that's what we did.”
