Six fire engines attend a fire at a commerical building in Higher Walton housing numerous gas cylinders

Six fire engines from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are currently attending to a fire in Higher Walton, South Ribble.

The fire has taken place at a commerical property on Blackburn Road that contains numerous gas cylinders, meaning engines will need to be present for a prolonged period.

The incident took place in the morning of Wednesday, September 21 but is now under control.

Taking to Facebook at around midday, a spokesperson said: “We currently have 6 fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform attending a fire involving a commercial building on Blackburn Road in Higher Walton.

“Whilst the fire is now under control, gas cylinders are present in the building so firefighters will be in attendance for several hours to make the scene safe. There will be some disruption to the surrounding area.

“No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
