Firefighters tackle barn blaze
Firefighters tackled a major barn blaze near Preston this afternoon.
Officers were called to Lewth Lane, Lewth, after a 999 call.
Five fire engines and crews were assigned – from Preston, Fulwood, Bamber Bridge, and Penwortham – to set up a ‘water relay’ from a remote source.
One engine pumped water to the next.
A ground-mounted water jet was set up together with hand-held hosereels to extinguish the fire.
There were no casualties and the cause of the fire is to be established.
