Police are investigating a suspected arson case in Preston after a caravan parked on the street burst into flames in the early hours of the morning.

Cars parked nearby had to be moved and the heat from the flames caused damage to a window of the nearest terraced house.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Bleasdale Street at 3.45am, with two fire engines from Preston station attending.

Watch manager Paul Charnley said: "It took us around half an hour to put the fire out.

"Fortunately no one was hurt but we are viewing it as a deliberate fire and police are involved."
