‘Passengers left shaking’ after yobs throw bottles and cans at bus in Ashton-on-Ribble

Video footage captures the moment a group of teens threw bottles and cans at a bus full of passengers in Ashton-on-Ribble.

The shocking incident occurred on Blackpool Road at the junction with West Park Avenue at around 12.15pm on Monday (November 7).

Footage taken by a passenger on the bus and shared to the Ashton and Riversway PACT Facebook page showed the event unfold.

A teenager can be seen hurling a bottle of soda at the bus driver before running off in the video.

Another loud bang can be heard as a can is thrown at the bus as it drives off, leaving passengers in disbelief.

“At first I thought the bus had knocked someone over as it came to a sudden stop after a bang,” one passenger – who wished to remain anonymous – said.

“The video only shows the part when I realised what was happening and grabbed my phone from my bag.

“Some of the older folk were really shaking.”

Lancashire Police told the Post they were aware of the incident and enquiries were ongoing to find the perpetrators.

“Who wants this, especially young kids, women and elderly on their own,” the passenger added.

“The bottle thrown actually hit the bus driver and he was covered in whatever its contents were.

“It’s getting out of control.”
