Mark Conrad Bates, 27, now of HMP Forest Bank, Salford, is accused of committing the offences on January 26 last year in which a HMP Garth worker was allegedly “doused with the rather disgusting contents of a bottle”.
Francis McEntee, prosecuting via Skype at Preston Crown Court, said: “ The incident is, in prison, commonly referred to as ‘potting’, however it appears the target of the potting was not the prison officer.”

Hide AdJudge Sara Dodd adjourned the case to July 20 and set a provisional trial for December 10.
It comes just a few days after a similar case in which a convicted murderer, who is serving a life sentence, admitted throwing his faeces all over two prison officers.
Gary Rogers, 31, admitted three counts of administering a poison or noxious thing, with intent to injure or aggrieve, and one of assaulting an emergency worker.
The case relates to him hurling excrement at three officers at HMP Garth, and assaulting one of them in February 2019.
Rogers is expected to be sentenced on September 3.
