'Erratic' drink driver stops in middle of M6 when intercepted by police near Preston

A drink driver was arrested after they decided to stop their van in the middle of the M6 near Preston.

Police were called to reports a van was being driven 'erratically' on the motorway near Preston at around 4.30am today (June 16).

Officers quickly intercepted the vehicle, but the driver decided to stop for police in a live lane rather than pulling onto the hard shoulder.

After a number of enquiries police discovered the motorist was over the legal limit and also disqualified from driving.

They were arrested and the van was seized.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Report of this van being driven in an erratic manner on the M6 Preston, it was intercepted by patrols where it then stopped in lane one.

"Driver provided a positive breath test and enquires showed that they were disqualified.

"Driver arrested and the van seized."
