Christmas and New Year bin collection dates in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble 2022/23: This is when your bins will be collected during the festivities

Bin collections across central Lancashire will remain relatively unaffected by the festive period, due to both Christmas and New Year falling on weekends.

Preston Council bin collection changes

Preston City Council has confirmed that while most bin collections will remain unaffected, there is the possibility of some changes on Monday, December 26, 2022; Tuesday, December 27, 2022; and Monday, January 2, 2023

Residents who are affected by the Christmas period changes will be notified via a sticker on their bin. Alternatively, bin collection times can be checked online.

Garden waste collections will stop on Friday, December 16, 2022, and will start again on Monday, January 16, 2023.

South Ribble Council bin collection changes

Christmas collections (garden waste suspended)

Tuesday 20 December (zone 2) - Collections as normal

Wednesday 21 December (zone 3) - Collections as normal

Thursday 22 December (zone 4) - Collections as normal + zone 1 refuse (grey bin - for 26 December)

Friday 23 December (zone 5) - Collections as normal

Monday 26 December (zone 1) - No collections

Tuesday 27 December (zone 2) - normal refuse (grey bin) / zone 1 recycling (blue bin and green box)

Wednesday 28 December (zone 3) - normal refuse (grey bin) / zone 2 recycling (blue bin and green box)

Thursday 29 December (zone 4) - normal refuse (grey bin) / zone 3 recycling (blue bin and green box)

Friday 30 December (zone 5) - normal refuse (grey bin) / zone 4 recycling (blue bin and green box)

Saturday 31 December - zone 5 recycling (blue bin and green box)

Monday 2 January - Collections return to normal (minus garden waste until 16 January)
