A family-run firm has taken over storage facility in Leyland, investing heavily to help businesses and individuals find a secure space that works for them.

Tortoise Storage is already a well-known brand on Merseyside, where its facility at Knowsley is full to capacity.

Now Lancashire locals John Holcroft and his sister Emma Whittle have taken over the site at 83 Bison Place, Leyland, offering up to 120 storage units for rent.

What sizes are available?

From 25 square feet units – roughly the size of a small garden shed – to 200 square feet units, suitable to house the contents of a large house or for keeping business stock for an SME, the facility can cater for all needs.

The units are all inside a fully secured warehouse and compound, protected from the weather and offering a safe, dry storage facility for everything from a treasured vinyl collection to family heirlooms, or secure stock storage for local businesses and shops.

Security and access

John said: “We took over the existing premises in September and have invested generously, bringing the site up to a standard both we and our customers can be happy with, offering a level to be proud of. Improvements include 23 new security cameras, new shutter, secure doors, fencing and access control. We are committed to offering an immaculate storage facility in an extremely secure location.”

At the moment, entry is available while the site is staffed, Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm, but a brand new keycode entry system will be up and running by the end of March, giving customers access 6am to 8pm 365 days a year.

John added: “This will be a particularly helpful for our business customers, who make up a huge proportion of our client base, and who want to be able to access their stock without having to close their shop or firm during trading hours to do so. Access seven days a week when it suits them makes us stand out from the crowd.”

As a family-run firm there’s extra attention given to customer service and making clients feel at home.

“There’s always a cuppa and biscuits to be had whenever customers pop in to see us,” added John. “We pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable.”

Who can use Tortoise Storage?

The customer base is surprisingly wide – perhaps you’ve got a month or two between house moves, and need a safe store for all your furniture. Or, you may be clearing a loved one’s home after a bereavement, but want to delay going through their belongings.

If you are a shop with limited storage on site, but want ample space to rotate stock throughout the seasons, or just to keep up with demand if the shelves clear quickly, Tortoise is for you.

You may even work or sell from home, or be out on the road, and want a secure, wind and waterproof storage to allow you to deliver on orders without the hefty overheads of your own premises.

Minimal rental

Units are available to rent by the month, but anyone who commits to a year or more will be offered a discount.

Whatever you need, John, Emma and manager Louise Power can help with year-round, reliable, accessible storage.
