The branch has been very busy this year with a variety of fund raising events across the region.
Collections have been held at supermarkets in Preston, Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Garstang and Longridge, with others still to come at Clitheroe, Chorley, Preston, Blackburn and Blackpool.
The chairman of the branch, Gertie Farmery, and her husband John have given a joint talk to several groups in Preston and Blackpool about brittle bones, called "The differences and similarities between Osteo Genesis Imperfecta and Osteoporosis", with Gertie relating her personal experiences of bringing up a daughter with Osteo Genesis Imperfecta.
John has also been giving a talk entitles "Didn't we have fun at the Battle of Bull Run" about the first major battle of the American Civil War when America came to realise what a serious course of action it had embarked upon.
This talk is given with John dressed in the uniform of a soldier in the Union army accompanied by Gertie, dressed as a "Soldiers Lady" of the period, 1861 - 1865.
All speakers fees from both of these talks are donated to the Brittle Bone Society.
Any groups who would like their members to hear either of these talks can contact John or Gertie on 01772 784919 or e-mail

Make a note in your diary for Saturday, November 25 when the June Baker Singers will again be giving a concert for the Brittle Bone Society at Longridge Civic Hall, similar to the one they gave last year, when the singers, a group of between 40 and 50 will sing a selection of well known songs, some from musicals or the films, plus a few comedy items.
A great night was had by all last year, so get your tickets early for what promises to be another great night. Contact John or Gertie on the above number.
