The President welcomed members and two visitors to the Annual Meeting.
She thanked all the ladies who had contributed to a very successful members meeting in August, when we had enjoyed a very varied programme showing we have some talented members.

A newspaper quiz caused much laughter, a very skilful flower arrangement drew gasps of admiration, there were the reminiscences of a telephone operator who had worked on the continental lines and finally the adventures of our walking group.

The formal part of the annual meeting followed with the treasurers report, the committee report and the Presidents response, when she thanked everyone for all their support of Leyland WI during the past year.

In particular she thanked the committee and the leaders of the sub-groups,and she concluded by saying that she hoped joining the WI was one of the best things members had done.

After refreshments the new committee was elected and the President was re-elected for a third term.

The results of a quiz were announced as well as,reminders of the September meal, Auditions evening ,and a possible trip to Arley Hall .The members leaving the committee were given small pot plants and flowers were presented to our adviser.

The next meeting is our 11th Birthday on October 21 at the Priory Club, Leyland at 1.30pm when we shall hear from a Town Crier.
