Published Date: 25 June 2008
The morning of June 18 was dull with a promise of rain. However this unpromising start to the day did not deter us as we set off for a day in the Lake District.
First stop was Dalmain House a privately owned manor house parts of which date back to the middle ages.

The gardens were a riot of colour with old fashioned roses, blue poppies and English apple trees.

After lunch in the great hall there was just time to take in beautiful views of the hills before we set off for Rheged for some retail therapy.

Meanwhile the walking group covered six miles of the estate and reported that it was one of the most beautiful walks they had ever done.

Everyone agreed it had been a good day out and it did not rain.

The next meeting will be at the Priory Club, Leyland on July 15 at 1.30pm.

Visitors are always very welcome.
