The members had a very interesting speaker at their June meeting.
Cerys Bannister, the first female brain surgeon in this country told her story about her life as a child in Brazil, her struggle to be accepted by the medical profession and how she received an OBE from the Queen.

She is now retired and now show cases her corgis at shows such as Crufts.

Future activities at this small, friendly WI include having a stall at the Lea community Gala, a strawberry tea party, a dinner at a very nice hotel, a walk across Morecambe Bay as well as a range of interesting speakers at our monthly evening meetings.

These are held every third Wednesday at Lea Methodist Church Hall, Birkdale Drive.

Visitors are welcome for two months.
