This month's meeting was our 86th birthday party and our new Lancashire Federation Chairman, Sally Roberts, sent her best wishes to us all and hoped we have a lovely evening.
Sheila Kilroy gave a wonderful talk and demonstration on "Sheila's Encaustic Art".
It was obvious that she was very enthusiastic about her art which she started a few years ago after seeing a demonstration at her daughter's WI in Cheshire.
It was amazing that from using coloured wax, non-absorbent paper and a hot iron such brilliant paintings appeared.
Sheila explained that every painting is a "one off" because you cannot repeat the process again.
Following Sheila's demonstration, we had an excellent "Hot Pot Supper" and then our president and secretary updated us all on WI matters.
Joan Bolitho, our delegate for the LFWI Annual Council Meeting gave us her report on the meeting.
Two ladies were presented with 60 year membership certificates. Our President Joyce Elstone and committee member Marlene Dowling were acknowledged for 40 years membership and another of our members, Gladys Sumner for 47 years membership. Congratulations to them all.
