The Euxton WI meeting began with President Freda welcoming a full house including a few visitors.
She informed the group on forthcoming events in one WI district and vice president Vera gave an imperative and amusing account of the council meeting held at the Guild Hall in Preston, where the guest speaker was Gyles Brandeth.

The speaker for the meeting was Mr Dennis Walker from the company "Fisherman's Friend".

He informed the group that the company began in 1865 and was formed by the Lofthouse family making lozenges for the fishermen to take on their sailing trips to Iceland.

The company has continued since, exporting to many countries, one of the main exports being Italy.

Dennis then provided samples for the members to try which was quite timely considering the recent cold weather.

Anyone wishing to join Euxton WI should contact Valerie Hough on 01257 270 874 or Freda Jenkins on 01257 263 973.

The group meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 2.00pm in Euxton PC Community Centre,Wigan Road.
