On a pleasant summer evening, over 60 members listened to Martin Hesketh of Embleys Nursery, Much Hoole, extol the wide variety and advantages of shrubs available for every situation in the garden – shady, wet, dry, and sunny.
Along with excellent slides, and the lovely selection of roses he brought with him - many of which went to good homes in the Chorley area – it was felt to be a very useful and informative as well as enjoyable evening.
Members were reminded by the Chairman that next month was our own Gardeners' Question Time: questions were needed to test the known expertise of our home-grown panel.
The Annual Show schedule was available and exhibits should now be growing. Suggestions for celebrating our 125th Anniversary in 2009 were needed by the Committee.
A list was also on the Notice Board for a visit to a Radio Lancashire's 'Ladies at Lunch' live programme on July 24.
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at Chorley Cricket Club on Sandringham Road, Chorley, at 7.30 pm. Visitors are always welcome – entry £2.
