Ashton on Ribble WI is extremely lucky in having new member Anne Tiley as their pianist so all meetings now begin with an extra rousing rendition of "Jerusalem".
Many members took an interest in a scheme to knit cheerful wooly hats to donate to fishermen.

The guest speaker was the charming Chandra law accompanied by her husband, Richard.

Chandra explained the method of batik printing and her life back in Malaysia, including some traumatic incidents at school whilst doing her batik training.

The samples she brought with her were truly beautiful pieces of work and her anecdotes about her first year living and aclimatising to England were both interesting and very amusing.

The group spent some time after thinking about the difficulties of emigrating to a country with a different climate and culture.

If you would like to join Ashton on Ribble WI please contact Norma on 01772 723963.

The group meet monthly on a Tuesday afternoon and always have plenty going on.
