Last year they presented a show where the actors only spoke four words over 45 minutes and a murder mystery where no-one could possibly have done it - this July though, After Dark Theatre Company are hoping their next show 'SAFE?' goes with a bang.
"We're going to blow up the Lancaster Grand Theatre' said After Dark Director Ben Muir nonchelantly, "I don't really want to go into too much detail as to how and why though as that would ruin the show."

SAFE? is billed as an apocalyptic thriller that follows the tale of a group of survivors who hide in the theatre after Lancaster City is evacuated due to a national disaster - but are they really safe inside - hence the title.

"It's a story about how people react in stressful situations - a group of people who wouldn't necesarily give each other the time of day under normal circumstances are forced to live in the theatre together because they can't go outside" and as for the reason they can't go outside - again Ben is very cagey, "if I give too much away it will ruin the show!"

So is there anything else he can tell us?

"Apart from the fact that you really don't want to miss it - not only does it have some brilliant acting from our troupe but some amazing special effects too - did I mention we blow the theatre up?"

SAFE? Runs at the Lancaster Grand Theatre from July 17 - 19 with all proceeds from the Thursday night being donated to the Theatre's own New Spaces Fundraising appeal - which they will need if the place is being blown up.
