An action group is calling on residents of South Ribble to contact their local councillors over proposals to build an Ikea store on land between Lostock Hall and Farington.
The announcement of the big-name interest was made on Thursday, a major stride forward in Lancashire County Council’s bid for a retail park on the Cuerden Strategic Site.
John Jones of Limit Cuerden said: “We can’t stop progress on this scheme, but people can influence it.
“Can you imagine the traffic in Bamber Bridge, Lostock Hall and Leyland with a huge retail park here?”
He added concerns that the scheme could “kill off” the Capitol Centre and Bamber Bridge and Lostock Hall.
He added: “People need to speak up now and let councillors and developers know that this is not wanted.”
