A woman was cut out of her car following a collision with a HGV on a motorway, say fire services.

Crews were called to junction 32 of the the southbound M6 after an off duty fire officer and a police patrol car travelling in the opposite direction, reported the collision at around 7.30pm on May 31.

A spokesman for Lancashire fire services said: "We were called after a car and a HGV collided in lane four of the southbound M6. We suspected that a woman in the car had suffered a back injury so we had to cut the roof of her car off.
