Space Centre invites youngsters to Santa's grotto

HUNDREDS of children got into the festive spirit with a visit to Santa's Grotto.

The Space Centre in Preston invited youngsters from across the county to join their Christmas celebrations.

One of the rooms at the Pedders Lane site was converted into a grotto, with other activities including sand art, card making and a reindeer food bar also on offer to keep youngsters entertained.

Community fundraiser Jacky Hohol said there had been more than 200 visitors over the weekend, and described it as “fabulous”.

She said: “It was totally for the children, even if they weren’t seeing Santa they could spend an hour here.

“It’s been absolutely superb.

“Some of the little tiny ones were scared of Santa, but for some of them the excitement was palpable and they couldn’t wait.”

Jacky said the team was “delighted” with the success of the weekend and said: “This was for anyone, it didn’t matter what their ability was.”
