Police uncover cannabis factory in Preston

Police officers searched three addresses in Preston for the second morning in a row as part of Operation Nexus, designed to disrupt crime in the city.

The raids were coordinated at breakfast time with officers visiting three targets in the city centre with one close to the university in Fylde Road.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, accompanied one police team this morning to oversee the operation.

Mr Grunshaw was at the forefront as officers uncovered a cannabis factory on Haysworth Street.

At another search, officers smashed their way into a house at the rear of shops in Fylde Road opposite the 53 Degrees night spot and carried out a detailed search.

Police with sniffer dogs searched the premises and interviewed residents.

Operation Nexus is running all week in an attempt to disrupt organised gangs dealing in drugs.
