Mole scores own goal after pitch invasion

A mole catcher saved the day for a football team after being called in to catch a pitch invader.

Non league game AFC Darwen v Runcorn Town almost had to be cancelled last weekend due to a “mole in the goal”.

Craig Parkinson, a mole catcher from Tarleton, went to the Anchor Ground to sort out the problem before further damage was done to the pitch.

Craig said: “I’ve helped many local sports grounds and football pitches with mole problems over the past 15 years, but this one was extra special in that the mole was in the goal - so I just had to take a picture.

“I’ve had two local sports grounds get in touch to help them since.”
