Chorley town centre came to a standstill to welcome the borough’s First Citizen.
Coun Doreen Dickinson has been installed as the Mayor of Chorley and a civic parade was held on Sunday.
Dignitaries left Chorley Town Hall to walk around the town centre and to St Laurence’s Church for a service.
Coun Dickinson has represented Lostock for 16 years.
She has also been a school governor at Bretherton Endowed and Coppull primary schools and has served on the parochial church council at Bretherton Church.
Her consort will be son Peter Vickers, a civil engineer and father to two boys.
During her mayoral year she will support charities St Catherine’s Hospice, North West Air Ambulance and Alzheimer’s Society.
Coun Dickinson said: “It’s a huge privilege to be Chorley’s First Citizen and I’m really looking forward to meeting as many people as possible, who live, work and volunteer in our borough.”
