Biker, 20, dies in road crash

A young motorcyclist has died after a road crash.

Police were called to Course Lane, Newburgh, near Burscough around 10.15pm last night, July 20, following reports of an accident.

A 20-year-old man was found with multiple injuries close to Tawd Vale campsite.

Officers believe the man had been riding a Yamaha motorbike eastbound on Course Lane when the vehicle collided with a Man lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist, from Standish, was treated by paramedics but later pronounced dead.

The driver of the lorry, a 41-year-old man from Ormskirk, was uninjured.

The road was closed for more than four hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

Sgt James Power, of Lancashire Police, said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with this man’s family at this time.

“We are appealing for information following the collision and would be keen to speak to anyone with information.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorbike in the area before the incident.”
