X Factor search for singing talent in Preston

Talent scouts from TV show The X Factor were in Preston yesterday, hoping to find the singing stars of the future.

A production team held open auditions at St George’s Centre in Preston city centre.

They are currently on a nationwide tour auditioning showbiz hopefuls for the next series of the TV talent show.

Andrew Stringer, general manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, said: “There’s an array of undiscovered musical talent across the city.”

Dermot O’Leary, added: “2016 was a fantastic year for The X Factor and now we’re about to kick start the auditions for 2017! We found some incredible talent and some amazing voices last year.”

In 2016, three of the four British lead acts to chart at No 1 in the UK singles chart were discovered by The X Factor – Zayn, James Arthur and Little Mix.

Last year’s winner Matt Terry is currently working on his debut album, after his single When Christmas Come Around reached No 3.
