A Preston firefighter is carving a name for herself in the world of showbiz after appearing on two BBC shows.
Samantha Preddy, 21, who works at Preston Fire Station, first appeared on BBC3 show ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’ after being approached on Facebook.
And now producers from Strictly Come Dancing’s spin off show, It Takes Two, have been filming at the Blackpool Road station to see how one of the fabulous frocks from the show would fare in Samantha’s working life.
Samantha said; “Filming for the Russell Howard show was brilliant; not everyone gets to go on TV.
“Russell had to guess what I did from the props around me and rescue a mannequin in full fire kit.
“It was really funny - he was actually quite good.”
Samantha, who became the youngest female firefighter in the country in 2010, has worked at the Preston branch for two years, and will be filmed by Strictly crew carrying out drills and sliding down the station’s pole.
Despite her male-dominated work environment, Samantha is sure her collegues watch the Saturday night show; “their wives make them watch it I think.”
And though finding her 15 minutes of fame fun, she doesn’t plan on giving up the day job just yet.
Samantha says; “I’m not planning on leaving my job for showbiz
“Though I may have to re-think that if I was offered a multi-million pound contract.”
