A motor mad duo from Lancashire will appear on TV screens up and down the country tomorrow in their latest series about the world of trucks.
Tim Campbell and Rob Hallam are the Jeremy Clarkson and James May of the truck world and will test vehicles and trailers in the all new programme.
The pair, best known as the presenters from Men and Motors ‘Truck’ series return to TV screens with their all new series TruckWorld TV at 7.30pm tomorrow.
Every week Tim and Rob will bring viewers truck news and views from around Europe, including major features such as visiting the Volvo truck factory in Sweden, looking at the work that goes on to make a trailer at Cartwrights in Cheshire as well as exclusive interviews with influential people.
Tim, who lives in Bretheron, near Chorley, is a former national sales manager for Leyland Trucks.
The 53-year-old said: “When we did the Men and Motors Series with trucks it was very well received. It was the second best watched show after the car shows. We knew there was an interest in it.
“Men and Motors became part of ITV and that is now ITV4. ITV made it clear it wasn’t something they wanted to do anymore.
“We knew it was popular within the industry and the truck drivers.”
Tim and Rob took their latest idea to Showcase and they were happy to show it.
“We have changed it slightly,” said Tim, “We wanted to do it a bit like Top Gear. It gives us the ability to talk to drivers and interview them about the issues they face.
“It’s got quite a bit of interest in the industry already.”
The father-of-two who was born in Leyland used to own Campbell’s Automotive Ltd has been travelling across the world to unveil top tips from the truck trade.
He has had a truck licence and been involved in the truck industry for over 30 years working at ERF Trucks, Mercedes-Benz UK Ltd, Leyland DAF and Intertrail a major truck and van contract hire company.
Tim has known Rob, from Rossendale, for a number of years and the pair also co-presented the Tokyo Motor Show programme on ITV4.
The new programme will include a truck road test each week from next week and the show is also giving truck drivers/operators the chance to upload images of their trucks and the opportunity to feature in the series.
In episode one tomorrow Tim and Rob give viewers the opportunity to take a front seat at the launch of Renault’s new truck range in Lyon and Rob visits the Volvo truck factory in Tuve Sweden.
The lads also take their camera on the road asking truck drivers how long the UK would last without trucks.
All the studio style shots we taken at the awarding winning J38 truck stop on the M6.
The programme will be aired on Showcase 2 (Sky channel 192) and Freesat 402, it will also be repeated on the following Sunday at 3.30pm.
Each episode will be made available 24 hours after the initial broadcast online at www.truckworldtv.co.uk
The pair’s next project will be van show.
