The venue has brought comedian Phil Walker back on board to pen this year’s pantomime, Aladdin.

The comic will also be directing the show and starring in it as Aladdin’s brother, Wishee Washee. His previous productions of Sleeping Beauty and Jack and the Beanstalk received great reviews from audiences.

Joining Phil on stage this year is well-known TV magician and entertainer Paul Zenon, playing the evil sorcerer Abanazar, while Aladdin himself will be played by Carl Tracy, who is one-fifth of the popular children’s musical group Go!Go!Go!

Blackpool lass Stacey McClean will be joining them too, playing Princess Jasmine. Stacey was a member of the pop group S Club Juniors and hopes to get the audience singing in their seats.

Taking on the role of the Slave of the Ring is comic, Jonathan Mayor. He is a resident compere at Manchester’s Frog and Bucket comedy club.

Preston lad Marvyn Dickinson will return to the theatre as PC Pong, while Jeffery Longmore, a panto dame with 30 years of experience, is Widow Twankey.

A Charter Theatre spokesman said: “As always, we aim to make each panto better than the last and as Aladdin is the most magical of all, we’ve pulled out all the stops.”
