Niamh Perry will play Sophie in Mamma Mia! when the show’s international tour rolls into summer season at Blackpool Opera House next week.
Niamh took the role in the West End in 2009 when the musical marked its 10th birthday, having risen to fame as a finalist in BBC series I’d Do Anything.
In 2010 she created the lead role of Fleck in Lloyd Webber musical Love Never Dies then went on to play the title role in the world premiere of the musical version of The Little Prince at the Lyric, Belfast.
The Mamma Mia! tour is led by real-life husband and wife Richard Standing and Sara Poyzer, with Sara playing Donna and Richard as Sam.
Judy Craymer’s ingenious staging of the show has now been seen by more than 54 million people in 39 productions in 14 different languages.
In 2011 the show became the first Western musical ever staged in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China. Now the people’s playground of Blackpool braces itself for a summer season that runs from June 20 to September 14.
