The Grand Theatre’s forthcoming season in Blackpool, the first under the direction of new chief executive Ruth Eastwood, features Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun starring Jason Donovan, Olivier Award-nominated 1894, and comedians Dawn French and Ken Dodd.

Annie Get Your Gun is also followed by Barry Manilow’s Copacabana, to pile on the musical theatre glamour.

Drama highlights include the Olivier-winning production of George Orwell’s 1984 by Headlong, Nottingham Playhouse and Almeida Theatre; English Touring Theatre’s Twelfth Night; the return of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap; and Touring Consortium’s production of Pat Barker’s Regeneration.

An Arts Council-funded dance programme continues with hip-hop martial arts feast The Five and The Prophecy of Prana by Boy Blue Entertainment. The Grand has also announced that in March 2015, prestigious choreographer Wim Vandekeybus will bring his company Ultima Vez to Blackpool.

For families, there’s hit show The Gruffalo and Christmas pantomime Sleeping Beauty. This year’s show stars Jennifer Ellison (Chicago The Musical, Phantom of The Opera, Brookside), Grand Theatre panto veteran Steve Royle, Radio Wave’s Hayley Kay and dancers from Barbara Jacksons Theatre Arts.

LEP columnist Steve Royle also appears in his stand-up show The LOL Tour in the Grand studio joined by comedian Phil Walker.

Music fans are treated to The Simon and Garfunkel Story, The Johnny Cash Roadshow, The Osmonds, Over The Rainbow- The Eva Cassidy Story and The Magic of Motown.
